| October 08, 2008 | | In our fourth post about Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15, 2008) | AOL Latino has presented a number of quizzes and “fun facts to know and tell” to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. For example, did you know that there are over 3,000 types of chili peppers in the world? I sure didn’t, and that’s one quiz I don’t think I’m going to take. But I’m pretty good at geography and culture, so I’m set to try the Geography Quiz. Sigh of relief – I get 13/15, even if I speak only a few words of Spanish. And I could certainly prove that to my Language Translation, Inc. colleagues if I dared to take the How Good is Your Spanish quiz. But I think I’ll be skipping that one too. Feeling confident after my geography score, I tried the Hispanics in America quiz. I must admit, my score was absolutely pathetic. I suggest you take it yourself – and learn something about the cultural diversity of your country. AOL Latino is an example of a domestic site that has undergone a localization process to reach out to Spanish-speakers within the USA. Most of the content is in Spanish, but some features, such as the above quizzes, are presented in English.
